To optimize our services, Cycling Vlaanderen will switch to an online payment system for participation in cycling races in 2025. This new feature, the MemberWallet, will be available on the personal member portal in the spring of 2025.
Through the MemberWallet tab, individuals with a competition license will be able to manage their MemberWallet. As a member with a competition license, you will be able to deposit money online into your MemberWallet. You will then use this to reserve your starting spot for races.
How is the payment system rolled out?
The payment system is currently in full development. A testing period will take place in May 2025, allowing online payments for two races. After this testing period, and any adjustments, the system will be further rolled out for all races. Further communication will follow later.
The races in which the system will be tested are:
- 01/05/2025 Zottegem-Erwetegem (Oost-Vlaanderen) – U17
- 10/05/2025 Peizegem (Vlaams-Brabant) – Juniors
Pre-registrations for these test races will only open once the payment system is fully ready. U17 riders and juniors will be informed in time. For other races in March, April and May, everything will proceed as before, with pre-registration via the portal and payment on-site at the race.
How do you deposit money on the MemberWallet?
Money can only be deposited into the digital wallet via an online payment. Bank transfers are not possible, ensuring the amount is immediately available for registrations.
How are registration fees collected?
When you register online for a race, it will be checked whether sufficient balance is available in your MemberWallet. If so, your pre-registration will be recorded and the registration fee will be reserved. After participating in the race, the amount will be definitively debited from your MemberWallet.
What if you don’t have enough money in your MemberWallet?
If the balance is insufficient, you will not be able to register. You will have the option to transfer money online immediately so you can still register.
What if you cancel your registration for a race?
In case of cancellation, the reserved amount will be immediately returned to your MemberWallet.
What if the race is full and you are placed on the waiting list?
The registration fee will be reserved. If you do not start because you are still on the waiting list when the registration period ends, the amount will be returned to your MemberWallet.
What if you are not eligible to participate in the race because you registered for a race you are not allowed to enter?
If your registration is rejected after verification by the race operator, the reserved amount will be immediately returned to your MemberWallet.
What about the deposit for the race number that is usually paid at a race?
No deposit will be required anymore. We assume the race number will be returned. If the race number is not returned, the deposit will be deducted from your MemberWallet.
What if the race is cancelled or removed from the schedule?
In case of cancellation or removal of a race, the reserved registration fee will be returned to your MemberWallet.
Can you still register on-site for a race?
Registration on-site will still be possible, but an additional fee will be charged for this. We encourage riders to register in advance and pay online as much as possible.
What if you want to rent a transponder at the race?
Transponders can still be rented on-site. Payment for this will be in cash.
What if you don’t show up for the race?
If you do not show up, the registration fee will not be refunded, unless you provide a valid reason within 24 hours after the race” via a special form”:https://cycling.vlaanderen/laattijdige-afmelding-wedstrijden.
Can you request a refund of the money in your MemberWallet?
Yes, you can request the remaining balance of your MemberWallet at any time through your portal account.
